JK Boots Reviews: Why Leather Work Boots Are Worth It
Aside from looking great, what makes leather boots stand out from other types of boots? Here's a few reviews that talk about just that. From long term durability and comfort, these are pulled directly from our reviews page from people who rely on their boots every single day.
1. “100% recommended“
"Bought these in July of 2022. I have beaten, abused and mistreated these boots the entire time. I have worn the tread off the soles and beaten the leather to death. I am on my 3th set of laces and second set of false tongues. I have used these boot for everything from doing controlled burns, to working cattle, operating equipment, hunting, fishing, and working as a conservation technician to working in a feed warehouse. I have dunked, splashed and flooded these boots with just about everything you can at those jobs.
I am very happy to get 3 hard years out of these boots. The safety toes have held up great, with no wear through.
I would 100% recommend and plan on getting these rebuilt after my new super duty honey bisons get here."

2. “Superb“
"I am impressed with every aspect of these boots. The build quality is second to none. The fit is perfect. I love the look and feel of the Bison leather, it is soft and supple, but thick and heavy duty at the same time. This is my first pair of JK boots, JK kept me informed every step of the way during the build. This is a company that cares about the customer."

3. “My first pair! Amazing off the bat“
"All I can say is.. the wait is worth it. When you get these you will drop in awe of the quality of the leather and the boots. Take the time to use the measuring tool. Amazing boot best fit and feel I’ve ever had"

4. “Badass boots!“
"I'm really impressed with these boots. I love how thick and soft the bison leather is and the tongue guard is a welcome touch. I switched out for kevlar laces to speed up the break-in process and put in felt/wool footbeds. I'm on my feet most of the day and so far, very comfortable. I initially ordered size 9 1/2 in brown and they were too big. Thank ***, because the black bison is freaking gorgeous. Thanks for impeccable customer service, JK!"

5. “Great product that is worth the wait“
"The boots are exceptionally well made and use very thick, quality materials. They are surprisingly comfortable right out of the box and break in quickly. I oiled mine with Obenauf's to protect them, but it does darken the rough-out leather for the redwood color. I like the darkened color, but it does change it. It would probably be less noticeable for the black or brown colors. You may have to wait a few months to get your boots, but they are worth the wait."

6. “Very comfortable break-in.“
"Soft, nice leather all the way around. The tongue being a very light construction was surprising but makes sense.
I wear a 11 and ordered a 10.5 (the closest in stock size) and the fit is good. I like the extra toe room. Sometimes when driving in a car for many hours my right pedal foot heel gets tired from being planted on the floor.
The Obenauf leather oil is a must as it softens the leather a bit during break-in. Oiled 3 times the first 2 weeks. Will order more JK Boots. Maybe the bear slayers."

8. “Perfection“
"Jk boots will be my only boot company from here on out. The thick supple leather felt full broken in from day one. As a tour guide at the Grand Canyon national park as well as living off grid I spend most of my day transitioning from hiking and entertaining to manual labor and construction. My feet, back, and every other ache has significantly reduced since first strapping these functional pieces of art to my feet."

9. “Superb craftsmanship!“
"Really beautifully made boots of the highest quality. They are the thickest leather I've ever seen but they're so flexible and comfortable and fit perfectly. I am so happy with my handmade boots and would recommend JK s to anyone, they're definitely worth the wait. Thanks so much JK."

10. “Own less, but own better“
"I'm on my foot about 90% of the time I'm working and am always searching for comfortable footwear. I no longer do outside construction work much, but instead am inside now, working as a luthier. Essentially finish carpentry. I'm also paring down the load of material "things" in my work and personal life. I've worn through larger, trendy brand-name "heritage boots" as well as lesser work boots". Many wear out from the inside. 3 weeks later there's still that rich smell of leather, as if I had walked into a western wear store! This is my first pair of "Pacific Northwest" boots and they are SUPER comfortable, with great arch support. I don't want to take them off at day's end. Like a good fitting pair of western boots, they firmly hold my foot arch and my foot doesn't slide around. I may yet experiment with a 1/2 size smaller in my next pair of JKs for a slightly more snug fit, but these are great fitting boots regardless. As an aside, I recommend completely trusting the "find your JK size" tab on the website. It may seem odd, but it works. I really like the extra toe space in the fore of the boots. Since these boots are stitch-down construction, they are a bit wider looking than what I've been accustomed to, (when viewed while wearing them) but don't have the bulbous "clown shoe" look that many heritage boots have. In my opinion the construction and comfort is superior to many of the mass-produced "heritage" boots I've owned (and some that I still own, e.g., Red Wings. Alden, Allen Edmonds, various English-made boots).
I purchased the 300s at the regular price which wasn't that expensive when considering the alternatives. It was not a challenge to justify the slight added cost--similar Red Wings are entering the $300-400 price ranged and for a little bit more money, I've purchased a hand-made product that is markedly better. I'll be in touch in the new year, ordering my next pair of JK boots. Thanks JK and God bless you all in your endeavors!"

Compared to mass-produced options, there is a difference in craftsmanship, longevity, and just general comfort when it comes to fully handmade leather boots. These are boots that stay comfortable and supportive after years of hard use with the leather softening and molding to your foot over time. It's a fit that feels broken in early while still continuing to improve. If you're tired of replacing worn-out boots, a pair of handmade leather boots proves to be a great long-term investment.
