Best Work Boot for Everyday Use? Why The OT Stands Out

When picking their next work boot, especially when it’s one for everyday use, we wanted people to not be stuck between two extremes. Between super heavy-duty boots or lighter boots that are more for being comfortable rather than the most durable. We designed the OT to make the answer easy and solve this exact problem by being somewhere along the middle. It delivers the durability for most demanding jobs while still being more lightweight and having the flexibility required for everyday wear.

Built and handcrafted here in Spokane, Washington, we created the OT with versatility in mind. It was initially designed along with a wildland firefighter for firefighters that weren’t doing long 14 day roles out in the forest but were doing things more on the base. It was a simple goal, design a boot that can handle real work while still being comfortable enough to wear all day. Having the balance of still having the durability for handling the job site, having to drive for a few hours, or even heading to the office to do paperwork or going out for the evening. This is what makes the OT the best all-purpose work boot available.

The OT stands at 8 inches tall, providing solid ankle support without the added bulk of taller boots. Also helping reduce weight and improving mobility, making it easier to move throughout the day without feeling as restricted. Combined with a lower-profile 132 unit sole, it again reduces some weight and helps the boot feel a little more agile and have a more shoe-like feel compared to traditional taller heels. It’s also built on our 360 stitchdown construction, which is way better for durability, along with our 8 oz butter tan leather that is also waterproof. This is thick, premium leather made to mold to your foot over time for a personalized fit. It also still has arch support, our full length 9-iron veg-tan insole, using full leather making them extremely durable. A midsole, a thick leather counter giving you great heel and ankle support, and still using the technora fire thread.

For the midsole, it uses our flexi midsole design that we also implemented on the Forefront model. Unlike for example the Fire Inlander that has a full-length midsole from the heel to the toe, this midsole runs from the heel and tapers off at the ball of the foot. This is where the reduction and agility come in. It allows for more flexibility where your foot naturally moves, making the boot feel less stiff and more comfortable right out of the box. This change can make a big difference in how it feels.

The OT comes in our three core colors, black, brown and redwood, all full smooth which helps water run off easier and makes it a little easier to maintain giving it a cleaner more polished look when needed. There is also the Bison option which is extra soft and molds to your feet easily and is a great and popular choice.

If you’re looking for a boot that can do it all, from demanding work to a seamless transition into everyday use, the OT checks every box. It’s right in that sweet spot of not the heaviest and not the lightest keeping that durability and offering you the best of both worlds.
